Missouri Government Actions on COVID-19 – Updated 3/30/2020

HeplerBroom understands how staying abreast of the latest developments related to COVID-19 is important to your business and planning for the future. We have assembled some of Missouri’s additional executive, legislative, and regulatory actions related to COVID-19 that may affect you and summarized them below.

EMERGENCY SERVICES

  • Governor Parsons mobilized the National Guard to help Missouri coordinate its response to COVID-19, which is anticipated to last until May 15, 2020. The National Guard is “ready and poised to assist local and state civilian authorities . . . beyond the capacities of local and State agencies....” Governor Parsons is counting on the National Guard to help the State of Missouri in taking action and employing equipment that is necessary to support and protect citizens of Missouri.

 ACTIONS IMPACTING AGENCY WORKFLOW

  • As a result of the pandemic, many citizens of Missouri are working from home, and many others are not working at all. Because of the economic situation due to COVID-19, some tenants and homeowners are unable to pay rent or their mortgage. As a result, St. Louis City and County have suspended eviction proceedings due to COVID-19. This does not relieve anyone from making payment. But, by suspending eviction proceedings, St. Louis City and County can ensure that citizens have some relief during the pandemic.

A public emergency such as the one we are experiencing with COVID-19 is unlike anything any of us has ever experienced. In an effort to continue to keep citizens safe, Missouri has also worked to keep many businesses and services running. Like many, HeplerBroom attorneys are diligently working from their homes to keep both clients and the community at large updated as to executive, legislative, and regulatory actions in the midst of COVID-19.
