Jansen Recognized by IDC for Role in Appellate Win

Sarah Jansen has been recognized by the Illinois Defense Counsel (IDC) for her key role in a recent favorable appellate court ruling. Jansen was cited for her “pivotal” writing in the appellee’s brief.  The underlying case was a wrongful death action. The trial court found appellees had no contractual or common law duty to clean up debris that purportedly affected a roadway drainage system, and the appellate court affirmed the trial court’s judgment in favor of appellees. Grabinski v. Forest Pres. Dist. of Cook Cty, 2020 IL App (1st) 191267.

Jansen, an associate attorney in the firm’s Crystal Lake office, focuses her practice on construction contracts and defense litigation, commercial general liability coverage, risk transfer matters, and municipal law. She was previously an Assistant State’s Attorney for the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and is the former recipient of the Litigation Award from the Illinois Institute for Local Government Law.
