Sangiorgio-Hirth Writes Article for Missouri Defense Lawyers Publication
The summer 2017 edition of the MODL Quarterly Report, a publication of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, features an article by HB attorney Josephine Sangiorgio-Hirth. In the article, she analyzes results from the Missouri Bar’s 2016 survey of judges’ evaluations of attorneys’ behaviors. The survey covered five characteristics of those behaviors: preparedness, professionalism, punctuality/promptness, knowledge of laws, and honesty.
Overall, the judges were satisfied with most of the practicing attorneys who appear before them. However, Sangiorgio-Hirth noted that not only was unprofessional behavior the judges’ number one unfavorable behavior, but their disapproval rating of attorneys’ unprofessional behavior had increased from 70% to 83% in the eight years since the last survey. She pointed out that it is in the attorneys’ best interests to heed the judges’ concerns and listen to their suggestions for improvement.
