Court Denies Plaintiff’s Motion for Class Action Certification

A federal court recently denied class action certification to a former medical school faculty member of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. HeplerBroom partner Thomas Wilson is the lead defense attorney on the case.

In her 2014 lawsuit, the former faculty member alleged the University practiced systemic wage discrimination based on gender. As part of that lawsuit, she had attempted to have her case certified as a class-action matter.

Wilson, of the firm’s Springfield office, is a trial attorney and a member of the firm’s Employment & Labor Law practice group. He has been named an AV Preeminent Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, an Illinois Leading Lawyer, and an Illinois Super Lawyer.
