Mitchell Capp, Lauren Crissie, Justin Curtis, Kenneth Giacobbe, and Willie Lyles have joined HeplerBroom as its newest associate attorneys.

Capp is based in the firm’s Chicago office and focuses his practice on matters involving complex commercial litigation, medical malpractice, and construction law. He is a 2017 cum laude graduate of The John Marshall Law School, where he was production editor of The John Marshall Law Review. He was also an intern with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois and held two judicial externships (one with The Hon. James P. Flannery Jr. of the Circuit Court of Cook County and one with The Hon. John W. Darrah of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois). He attended the 2015 Intellectual Property Program at the Chinese Intellectual Training Center in Beijing and Shanghai, China. Capp served as a 2016 Summer Associate in HeplerBroom’s Chicago office.

Crissie is also based in the firm’s Chicago office and focuses her practice on the litigation of professional and general liability cases, with an emphasis on the defense of complex medical, dental, and nursing home issues. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, she was an associate at a Chicago plaintiff’s firm and focused on personal injury and medical malpractice. She is licensed to practice in the Illinois Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Crissie is a 2015 graduate of The John Marshall Law School, where she was staff editor of The John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law and was on the Moot Court Honors Council.

Curtis is based in the firm’s new Hammond, Indiana, office. He focuses his practice on litigation in a range of areas, including construction and labor & employment law. He is experienced in representing individuals and corporations in civil and business-related matters in federal and state courts. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, Curtis practiced at a small northwest Indiana firm focusing on civil litigation. He is a 2009 magna cum laude graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law, where he was a staff member of the Valparaiso University Law Review and was on the Executive Board of the Valparaiso University International Moot Court Society.

Giacobbe is based in the firm’s Edwardsville office and focuses his practice on trials involving complex business litigation matters, including toxic torts and product liability. He is a 2017 cum laude graduate of Washington University School of Law, where he was primary editor of the Washington University Jurisprudence Law Review and earned the Scholar in Law Award and the Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy. Giacobbe was a 2016 summer associate for HeplerBroom and was previously a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Michael D. Burton of the St. Louis County Circuit Court.

Lyles is based in the firm’s St. Louis office and focuses his practice on cases involving civil litigation matters, including insurance law, personal injury, and auto accidents. He is a 2017 graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Law. During law school, his exceptional leadership skills and community involvement earned him a position on the list of the Top 25 “2017 Law Students of the Year” published by The National Jurist. He was a 2016 HeplerBroom Summer Associate, working in the firm’s Edwardsville office. Prior to attending law school, Lyles served for 4½ years as a legislative assistant to the Honorable James E. Clyburn, assistant Democratic leader in the U.S. House of Representatives, and for 18 months as Deputy Chief of Staff/Legislative Director for the Honorable William L. Enyart, also of the U.S. House of Representatives.
