Practice Description


Michael T. Griffin is a trial attorney who concentrates his practice on insurance coverage and defense litigation, construction litigation, medical malpractice defense, real estate matters, and class action defense. He has tried numerous jury trials to verdict and has practiced in several state and federal courts, including the Illinois Supreme Court and Illinois Appellate Court.

  • Obtained reversal of trial court’s judgment entered against property owner after trial in case involving the Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance (RLTO) and issues of first impression in Illinois (Christina White, et al. v. Michael Kocmond, 2018 IL App (1st) 170878-U)
  • Obtained Appellate Court ruling affirming trial court’s judgment in favor of property management company entered after trial in case involving conflicting Appellate Court opinions on how the circuit court obtains subject matter jurisdiction over a lawsuit.   • Obtained involuntary dismissal of class action lawsuit against property management company with prejudice (Chandra Joiner v. SVM Management LLC, 2016 CH 16407)
