On August 31, Eleni Gyparakis and Linda Hay will be helping newer associates understand the basics of managing litigation files. Entitled “Open to Close: Playbook for Defending a Lawsuit,” this CLE course for the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel provides tips on communicating with clients and analyzing a case. It also covers what a partner may expect an associate to handle as far as motions, evaluating witnesses, and analyzing settlements or jury verdicts. The course was originally presented to HeplerBroom associates as part of its own in-house training program. Registration for this hybrid event (in person or via Zoom) is on IDC's website.

Gyparakis, an associate in the firm’s Chicago office, focuses her practice on the defense of medical, dental, and long-term care litigation claims. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, she also gained experience defending personal injury claims, employment liability matters, and general appellate practice. Gyparakis received her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School (n/k/a UIC John Marshall Law School) in 2013. She also holds a B.A. in Criminology and Sociology from The Ohio State University.

Hay, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, has focused her practice on the defense of all types of individual healthcare practitioners, including dental professionals. She has also defended healthcare institutions (such as hospitals, healthcare systems, clinics, and group practices) against medical malpractice claims. She has received numerous honors in her career and has been named to numerous lists of top-rated lawyers.
