Messina and Martin Present Environmental Webinar to Fuel Industry Group

Alec Messina and Jennifer Martin recently presented an educational seminar on underground storage tanks (UST) to members of the Illinois Fuel Retailers Association. They covered topics such as UST ownership, UST regulatory updates, and the Illinois EPA leaking underground storage tank incident backlog.

Messina is a partner in the firm’s Springfield office and a member of its Environmental Law practice team. In addition, he spearheads the firm’s Government Affairs practice group. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, he served as Director of the Illinois EPA and was the Illinois Governor’s Policy Adviser on Energy and Environment. Previously, he had been Chief Legal Counsel for the Office of State Fire Marshal.

Martin, also a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, focuses her practice on environmental law and real estate. She has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters and an Illinois Leading Lawyer by Law Bulletin Media. She speaks and writes regularly on environmental law. Prior to entering private practice, Martin was an Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Control Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
