Messina Talks Environmental Risk and Regulation with Premier Defense Counsel Association

HeplerBroom attorney Alec Messina

Alec Messina will be one of the featured speakers at the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel’s (FDCC) 2025 Corporate Counsel Symposium. Messina’s presentation on environmental risks and regulations will focus on practical strategies for in-house counsel to manage uncertainty in the face of new regulatory priorities, citizen activism, and emerging contaminants like PFAS. More information about the Symposium, which will be held in Chicago on September 14-16, is available on FDCC’s website.

FDCC is an international organization of defense and corporate counsel dedicated to providing access to knowledge, justice, and fellowship in an environment of fairness and equitable treatment for everyone. Membership is by invitation only, and prospective members are vetted for their leadership, experience, record of excellence, and commitment to the principles of integrity and fair civil justice.

Messina, a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, helps craft innovative solutions to clients’ environmental problems. He spearheads the firm’s Government Affairs practice group and works with clients in HeplerBroom’s Environmental Law practice group. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, he served as Director of the Illinois EPA and had also been the Governor’s Policy Adviser for Energy and Environment.
