Indiana Government Actions on COVID-19 – Updated 4/9/2020
Today’s update includes information on:
- new testing devices from Abbott Labs
- Hamilton County's closure of recreational facilities
HEALTH
- Abbott Labs has provided Indiana with testing devices that provide COVID-19 test results in about five to thirteen minutes. The cartridges provided allow for 124 tests, and the state is expecting more to arrive. Currently, the state is focused on nursing homes and similar facilities. To date, the Indiana State Department of Health has tested 600 people at 200 of those facilities and have received 191 positive results.
GOVERNMENT AGENCIES
- In addition to the Governor’s statewide stay-at-home order, specific counties are also taking additional preventive measures. Hamilton County, for example, has determined that the popular campground in the area will remain closed until further notice. Additionally, Hamilton County has determined that other major facilities—such as the nature center, the center of natural history, fitness stations, playgrounds, and basketball courts—will also all remain closed.
