HeplerBroom’s Chicago office was delighted recently to host students from the city’s Northside Learning Center. (Northside is a high school for 14- to 22-year-old students with intellectual disabilities and impaired adaptive functioning. Students practice and develop skills that promote independence and the ability to work and participate in their communities.) Many of the students had never been on a field trip to a downtown office building.

While touring the office, the students were engaged, talkative, and attentive to learning. The following week, they found a way to keep their delightful spirits alive in the office even in their physical absence: a hand-delivered package was delivered that contained a photo of the group in HB’s office and a handmade and personal thank you note from each student!
