Edwardsville Employees Raise More Than $1,000 for Tornado Victims
HeplerBroom’s Edwardsville office once again proved that philanthropy and fun can go hand in hand with this year’s version of Penny Wars.
The staff was randomly divided into three teams. Each team then tried to fill its own jar with the most pennies while sabotaging the other two teams by adding paper money to their rivals’ jars. Counterintuitively, the team with the most points lost, and that team’s captain ended up with pie in his face—literally.
The lead see-sawed back and forth throughout the weeks-long event, but in the end, team captains Beth Bauer and Michelle Wright came out on top, leaving captain Dan Lytle to face the Pie Executioner. (To add to the fun—and the dollars raised—raffle tickets were sold to earn the honor of being the Pie Executioner.)
Proceeds from this year’s Penny Wars went to Gateway YMCA to support their efforts in helping victims of the recent St. Louis tornado.
