At its recent meeting, the Board of Directors of the Illinois Defense Counsel (IDC) appointed HeplerBroom attorneys Kelly Libbra and Eleni Gyparakis to leadership roles in the organization. Libbra will continue in her role as chair of IDC’s Toxic Tort Committee, while Gyparakis will start a new role as co-chair of the Practice Development Committee.
Libbra, a partner in the firm’s Edwardsville office, defends a diverse range of companies—from Fortune 500 companies to small, local businesses—against premises, supplier, and product litigation claims. She uses her oral and written advocacy skills to assist product manufacturers, premises owners, suppliers, and employers in navigating complex multi-party toxic tort cases. Her goal is to reduce her clients’ exposures and resolve claims in a cost-effective manner.
Eleni Gyparakis, an associate in the firm’s Chicago office, is a dedicated litigator who defends medical, dental, and other healthcare providers against claims of medical negligence. Her clients trust her ability to analyze complex medical issues and distill information for the benefit of jurors. In 2024, she was named the Board of Directors Rookie of the Year for the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society.
