Chicago Employees Raise Over $900 for Chicago Area Children In Need
In August, HeplerBroom’s Chicago office joined the bandwagon on integrating philanthropy and fun as they enjoyed their third year of friendly rivalry playing Penny Wars.
Last year’s defeated team captain nominated three people—a partner, an associate, and a staff member—to lead one of three teams. Each team competed to fill its own jar with the most coins while sabotaging its rivals by adding paper money to their jars. (Unlike most games, in Penny Wars, the team with the most points loses.)
This year, associate attorney Grant Handy earned the dubious honor of having the jar with the most points. His reward? A pie in the face from Joe Fay, last year’s team leader whose team jar had the highest points.
Proceeds from the event went to Cradles to Crayons, a not-for-profit that provides school supplies and school-appropriate clothing to make certain all children in Chicago “have what they need to feel confident and prepared going into the school year.”
