Dmitrieva Speaking at Seminar on Writing an Effective Brief
Irina Dmitrieva will be part of a four-person panel helping attorneys learn how to craft powerful, reader-friendly legal briefs.
Joining Dmitrieva in the presentation will be an Illinois appellate court justice, an Illinois district court judge, and an assistant attorney general for criminal appeals. Sponsored by the Federal Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association’s Federal Civil Practice Committee, the June 12 in-person-only seminar will be held in Chicago’s Dirksen Federal Building. Dmitrieva, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, is a highly experienced appellate litigator with more than 20 years of success in federal and state appellate courts representing both private clients and governmental entities. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, she served as the sole appellate attorney for the Chicago Transit Authority, one of the largest mass transit companies in the United States. Earlier in her legal career, she represented the City of Chicago and its agencies in appellate courts. She also practiced complex commercial litigation and appellate law at a large law firm in Chicago, where she was mentored by retired Illinois Supreme Court Justice Benjamin Miller. Dmitrieva obtained her J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2003. She also holds a Ph.D. in media law from the University of Florida, an M.A. in Communications from the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Moscow.
