Gordon R. Broom

Retired

Overview

Gordon R. Broom started with HeplerBroom in 1974 and retired in 2020. He focused his practice on trials involving practically every area of personal and bodily injury litigation, including lawsuits involving medical malpractice, products liability, and maritime law, as well as general negligence. Mr. Broom represented a wide variety of clients from numerous industries—such as energy/utilities, insurance companies and their insureds, telecommunications companies, a national transportation company, and so many more—during his storied career. He tried cases all over central and southern Illinois and advocated in the appellate courts on issues of first impression in Illinois jurisprudence. Mr. Broom served the profession as an active member and former President of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel as well as former President of the American Board of Trial Advocates (a national organization). He was also a long-time member of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness. For most of his career, he was honored by his peers and the judiciary, both statewide and nationally, as a top skilled lawyer who practiced with the utmost integrity. Mr. Broom’s contributions to the firm and the practice of law will endure in all that HeplerBroom is and will become.

His cases are now being handled by HeplerBroom senior partner Troy Bozarth. Mr. Bozarth can be reached by phone at 618-307-1124 or by email at Troy.Bozarth@heplerbroom.com.
